Long time student, Nick Chicone had to buckle down and do the work to get on the snare drum line at Boardman Spartan High School Marching Band. The director, Mr. Ruggieri (a drummer himself), wrote up a special piece designed to challenge even the most accomplished drummer. We all saw the piece here at the shop and marveled at its difficulty. Anybody who wants to play snare with Boardman certainly has to prove they have the chops! Sophomore Nick has been a student of our veteran teacher, Larry Paoletta, for a number of years, and as soon as he got the audition piece, they buckled down to work. Nick only had two months to show he had the right stuff. Because of his hard work and dedication, Nick flew through the audition, and landed the coveted spot on the Boardman High snare-line. But now the REAL hard work comes: Two weeks of intense training at the school, followed by a week of Band Camp. The band will be playing the National Anthem at a Cleveland Indians game on 8-22, and then several Battles of the Bands at the end of month -- oh, and later there will be football before and after band performances on Friday nights. Join us in congratulating Nick!
